Privacy Policy
How Chaperone handles information.
Effective date: July 23, 2026. This policy explains how information is collected, used, shared, and protected when you use the Chaperone app, web portal, or website.
Google account sign-in
Chaperone uses a single Google sign-in button to create and authenticate your account. When you choose a Google account, we receive and store your Google account identifier, name, email address, email verification status, and profile photo when available. We do not receive or store your Google password. Google's use of your information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Information you provide
We store the personal information and content you choose to provide, such as your profile name, photo, headline, biography, city, country, service listings, descriptions, prices, availability, bookings, reviews, support requests, and contact-form messages. We also store account, device, usage, and diagnostic information needed to operate and secure Chaperone.
Public service profiles and locations
When you offer services, the profile and service information you publish may be visible to other Chaperone users. This can include your name, profile photo, headline, biography, city, services, prices, availability, reviews, and the provider location you share. Your shared provider location is public within Chaperone and may appear on a map so nearby users can find your services. Do not share a home or private location unless you are comfortable making it visible to other users.
Location information
With your device permission, Chaperone collects precise or approximate location coordinates and location accuracy. We use location to show nearby services, calculate distance, display providers on a map, update a provider's shared location, support bookings and check-ins, and provide safety features such as SOS. A customer's search location is used to find nearby services; booking or safety locations may be shared with the relevant participants or responders.
In-app messaging
Chaperone stores messages and related content, including text, images, files, voice notes, sender details, timestamps, and delivery information, so conversation participants can communicate. Messages are visible to the conversation participants and may be accessed by authorized Chaperone personnel when needed for support, safety, reports, abuse prevention, or legal compliance. Messages are not represented as end-to-end encrypted, so do not send passwords, financial details, or other highly sensitive information.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts, operate profiles and service listings, provide nearby search, maps, bookings, messaging, reviews, notifications, safety tools, customer support, advertising, fraud prevention, analytics, troubleshooting, and service improvements. Chaperone does not sell your personal information.
Advertising and third-party services
Chaperone uses Google services for sign-in, maps, and AdMob banner advertising. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share IP address, general location derived from IP, app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers, including the advertising ID, for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. These providers process information under their own privacy policies.
Sharing and disclosure
We share information with other users when you publish a provider profile, share a provider or booking location, participate in a booking, submit a review, or send a message. We may also share information with vendors that host or support Chaperone, with Google services used by the app, when required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate misuse, or as part of a business transfer.
Retention and deletion
We keep information for as long as your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide Chaperone, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, maintain records, and meet legal obligations. You can edit profile information in the app and permanently delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes your profile, saved location, services, bookings, messages, favorites, reviews, and uploaded files from Chaperone, subject to backups or records we must retain by law.
Your choices
You can deny or disable device location permission, but nearby search, public provider location, check-in, and safety features may not work correctly. Disabling permission stops future device-location access but does not automatically erase a location already stored. You may update your profile, stop offering services, delete your account in Settings, or use the website contact form for a privacy request.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No internet service or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
Chaperone is not intended for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the minimum age required by applicable law in their region. If you believe a child provided information, contact us so we can review and remove it.
Policy updates
We may update this policy as Chaperone changes. The revised policy becomes effective when posted, and we may ask you to review and accept material changes before continuing to use the app.
